Homemade Beautiful Bird Costumes For Your
Baby
Duck Infant Costume
Halloween is coming,
and what better time for birds of a feather to flock together for
trick-or-treating! Your little one will look adorable in either the parrot
or duck costumes that require no sewing! These two easy bird-themed
Halloween baby costumes can be made to fit your baby or toddler with items
you may have at home or can find at a department store.
Polly Parrot:
A pretty parrot will
want more than a cracker this Halloween! Expect your little one to reap
tons of treats in this no-sew costume that you could make to fit a
newborn, baby or toddler. A colorful sweat suit serves as the base.
You’ll need:
Sweat suit in blue, green or red.
Baseball cap in same color
Yellow, green, red, blue, black and white felt.
Hot glue gun
- Use strips of
yellow felt to make feathery wings and attach under your parrot's arms.
- Make feathers
(raindrop shapes work fine) out of the other colors of felt and glue to
the front of the sweatshirt to make a feathered chest.
- Make a bill out of
yellow felt and glue to the brim of the baseball cap.
- Make two black
eyes with a ring of white around the pupils and attach to an oval of
base color that shows up on the cap. For example, red on a blue cap
would look nice. Attach the entire piece to the baseball cap with glue.
- Add yellow
feathers around your parrot's ankles and wrists.
- For a cute twist,
have your little one collect treats in a cracker box, or a bag that you
can label as ‘crackers.’
Rain
Duck
Ducks don’t just love
rain—they love Halloween, too! This easy costume is perfect for layering
in cold climates or wearing on a rainy Halloween night.
You’ll need:
Yellow rain coat
Rain boots.
Baseball cap, or hood from rain coat
Hot Glue Gun
Orange, black and white felt
- The raincoat is
the base for this cute costume. Fashion a bill out of a rounded triangle
of orange felt. If the bill isn't stiff enough, use two pieces of felt
and attach them back to back around a piece of cardboard to stiffen the
fabric. Attach to the center front of the hood with hot melt glue.
- Make oval eyes out
of black and white felt and attach them to the hood by gluing.
- What duck is
complete without webbed feet? Make duck feet out of orange felt and
attach to the top of the boot’s foot.
- For a cute touch,
make white tail feathers and attach to the back of the rain coat.

With a little glue,
felt and sweat suits or a rain coat, you can transform your little one
into a cute feathered friend for Halloween!
